How did Caroline Shaw turn Dumbarton Oaks into music?

As the inaugural music fellow at Dumbarton Oaks in 2014–15, Shaw wrote Plan & Elevation as a musical walk through the estate’s grounds, with each section corresponding to a different part of the landscape and her experience of it.
