How can I tell if my pool pump motor bearing is failing?

Listen for a loud screeching or grinding noise — that’s the clearest sign. You’ll hear a high-pitched squeal at startup or constant metal-on-metal scraping while running. A failing bearing also causes excessive vibration, heat near the motor housing, and higher current draw that can trip breakers. Don’t ignore it; running it can damage the pump seal or diffuser.
