Household bleach vs pool chlorine: Pool chlorine is the smarter buy for most pool owners

Pool chlorine (10–12% sodium hypochlorite with stabilizer) is stronger and lasts longer in sunlight, while household bleach (5–8%) requires annoying dosage math and constant re-adding. For the same price or less, pool chlorine’s label already tells you the dose. Save bleach for laundry unless it’s an emergency or a tiny kiddie pool.
