Does the color of a mousepad matter for modern sensors?

Probably not. Unless you’re using a mouse from the early 2000s or an ultra-budget peripheral, the sensor tracks surface texture and micro-detail, not color. The real issue is reflectivity—a glossy white pad might cause problems, but a matte white or black pad works fine. For 99% of setups, choose the color you like.
