Does RAM size affect laptop battery life?

Not noticeably. The power difference between 8GB and 16GB is tiny — under a watt. Modern RAM uses 2–3 watts per module at full speed, and idle is even lower. The screen, CPU, and GPU drain far more battery, and having extra RAM can actually save power by preventing the system from hitting the swap file. Upgrade for performance, not power.
