Does rain turn pools green?

Rain doesn’t turn pools green — phosphates do. Rain carries dust, pollen, bird droppings, and fertilizer runoff loaded with phosphates and nitrates, which feed algae. It also dilutes chlorine, so algae feast while the bouncer is fired. The fix: test phosphates, use a phosphate remover, and shock the pool hard.
