Do I need one pool cover or two?

You need two separate pool covers — one for safety and one for heat retention. Solar covers trap heat but are flimsy and unsafe for children or pets. Safety covers support weight but don’t retain heat. If you have kids or pets, buy both; if not, skip the safety cover.
