Do hard mousepads wear out mouse feet faster than cloth pads?

Yes. Hard surfaces like plastic or aluminum are much more abrasive to PTFE mouse feet than cloth pads. Cloth pads let the mouse glide with minimal friction, while hard pads create direct, rigid contact that grinds down soft PTFE. If you use a hard pad, plan on replacing mouse feet every six months or so.
