Yes, they reduce dust attraction, but the coating is temporary and regular cleaning will wear it down faster. Wiping with water or soap slowly strips the coating, and after a few months of weekly cleaning the benefit drops off noticeably. To extend the life, use only a dry or barely-damp microfiber cloth with no chemicals. Eventually it’s just a regular mousepad again.
