Compliant drain cover vs SVRS: Both are needed for pool safety

A compliant drain cover alone can fail if damaged or poorly installed, so the real safety upgrade is adding an SVRS or gravity drainage system. The SVRS automatically shuts off the pump when it detects a blockage, and many states now require both for new pools. Don’t wait for an accident — replace any cover not stamped with the ASME standard and add an SVRS.
