Can you fix a slick spot on a mousepad?

Not really. A deep clean with mild soap and water will remove surface oils and maybe improve feel for a few days, but the physical compression of fibers is permanent. The pad’s life is just shorter than you hoped. If it bothers you, buy a new pad.
