Can I use standard chlorine tablets in a salt water pool?

You can, but you shouldn’t. Salt water pools use a chlorine generator to produce chlorine from salt, so adding tablets defeats the purpose. Tablets are often stabilized with cyanuric acid (CYA), which builds up and can lock your chlorine, causing problems. Stick to liquid chlorine or non-stabilized shock if you need a boost.
