Can a cooler keep food hot?

Yes. The same insulation that keeps things cold works in reverse — a cooler will hold heat too, but it won’t cook anything. The trick is preheating it with boiling water before packing, filling gaps with towels, and using a thick-walled cooler. Preheated properly, food at 165°F stays hot for 3-4 hours.
