Bubbles down traps air against the water for slightly better heat retention, while bubbles up keeps debris off the water and may reflect a bit more sunlight. In practice, the difference is small enough that you won’t notice. Go bubbles down for a new cover, but don’t bother flipping it if it’s already installed the other way.
