It catches particles down to 20-40 microns, which is fine for the human eye, and it tolerates algae blooms better. Cartridge filters catch finer debris but cost more and need regular manual cleaning every few weeks. Unless you’re a pool perfectionist with a fussy setup, save the money and get a sand filter.
