Usually. The tracking sensor reads texture, not conductivity, so surface material doesn’t matter. Modern mice like high-end gaming or Logitech MX series have antenna placement that avoids blocking, so you won’t notice a difference. Problems only happen with cheap, poorly shielded mice or unusually thick pads. I’ve used an aluminum pad for years with zero issues.
