Yes, get the drain plug. It lets you dump ice water without losing your food or opening the lid. On decent coolers like YETI, RTIC, Coleman, or Igloo, the seal is fine and leaks aren’t a real issue. If you only use the cooler for dry goods, skip it, but for ice and drinks, it’s a no-brainer.
