5 Ways to Reduce Pool Evaporation
Use a pool cover A cover is the single most effective method, cutting evaporation by 90% or more. It physically blocks hot, dry air and wind from wicking water away from the surface.
Try a solar blanket The clear bubble-wrap style covers also passively heat the water during the day. This is a useful bonus if you want warmer swimming.
Consider a liquid solar cover This chemical spreads an invisible layer on the surface. It works okay in calm conditions but breaks apart in any breeze.
Install windbreaks Fences, hedges, or shade sails help more than expected, especially if your pool sits in an exposed spot. They reduce the wind that accelerates evaporation.
Add shade Shade from trees or a structure reduces direct sun heating, which slows evaporation. This is a secondary measure but still worthwhile.
