5 Things to Know About Measuring for a Cooler in Your Vehicle

Rotomolded coolers are built as standard rectangles, but your vehicle’s cargo area is not. Wheel wells, slanted seats, and cargo hooks create irregular shapes that prevent a perfect fit.

“Jeep-specific” or vehicle-specific cooler claims are mostly marketing. No cooler is precision-molded to your exact trunk or SUV layout.

Measure the actual cargo space: width between wheel wells, height with seats folded, and depth from tailgate to seatbacks. Use these numbers, not the vehicle model.

Look for a cooler within an inch or two of your measurements. A little extra length can work if the shape is forgiving, but expect gaps.

Do not expect a perfect glove fit. Even the best cooler will leave some space around it in a real vehicle trunk.
