5 Things to Know About DE vs. Cartridge Pool Filters

DE filters catch particles down to 2-5 microns, giving you the clearest water. Cartridge filters stop at 10-15 microns, which is still plenty clean for most pools.

DE filters require backwashing and adding fresh powder every time you clean. Cartridge filters just need a hose-off and a replacement every year or two.

Used DE powder cannot be flushed and must be disposed of according to local regulations. Cartridge filter elements can simply be thrown in the trash.
