5 Things to Know About Accessibility at Cave of the Winds

Neither the Discovery Tour nor the lantern tour is wheelchair or stroller accessible. Both tours require navigating steep stairs, narrow passages, and uneven wooden planks. There is no alternative route that bypasses the steps.

The Wild Tour is also not accessible. This tour involves climbing and crawling, making it unsuitable for anyone with mobility limitations.

The only accessible area is the entrance viewing platform. From there, you can see the canyon and cave mouth, but you cannot enter the actual caves.

The park’s website confirms no accessible path inside the caves. This is not an oversight—the cave’s natural layout simply does not allow for it.

For an accessible cave experience, visit Carlsbad Caverns or Mammoth Cave instead. These commercial caves have elevator access and are designed for everyone. Cave of the Winds is not.
