5 Steps to Open Your Pool Without Wasting Shock
Remove the cover carefully Pull the cover off slowly so debris doesn’t fall into the water. Hose it off, let it dry, then store it.
Check and adjust the water level Top off the pool if the water is low. Don’t move on until this is done.
Test the water chemistry Use a test kit or strips to check pH, alkalinity, and chlorine. Get these in range before adding shock.
Do not shock unbalanced water Shocking dirty or off-balance water is a waste. You will end up with cloudy water that takes weeks to clear.
Clean and filter after chemistry is stable Once the water is balanced, scrub the walls, vacuum, and run the filter. One step at a time prevents problems.
