Turn off the pump and remove the basket Safety first. Shut off the pump, then take out the skimmer basket to access the faceplate.

Unscrew the faceplate and remove the old gasket Remove the screws holding the faceplate, pull off the old gasket, and clean the groove and faceplate thoroughly.
