5 Signs Your Pool Has a Leak

  1. You’re adding water more than once a week Normal evaporation is about a quarter-inch per day in hot weather. Losing an inch or more overnight means a leak.

  2. You see wet spots or soggy ground Check near pool equipment and along the perimeter. Persistent dampness points to a leak.

  3. Air bubbles come from return jets Air entering the system through a leak creates bubbles. This also causes the pump to lose prime.

  4. Algae grows around a tiny crack Chlorine can’t keep up with fresh water feeding the algae. That crack is likely a leak.

  5. The bucket test confirms it Fill a bucket with pool water to the same level, set it on a step, mark both water lines, and check after 24 hours. If the pool level dropped more than the bucket, it’s a leak. Don’t ignore it—small leaks get bigger.
