5 Reasons Your Breaker Keeps Tripping (It’s Not the Extension Cord)
The tool’s startup surge is the most likely cause Motors pull 2-3 times their running current on startup. A 10-amp tool can spike to 25-30 amps for a split second, which can trip an old or sensitive 15-amp breaker.
A short in the tool itself Check the tool for electrical shorts or mechanical binding. A damaged motor or jammed blade can cause excessive current draw.
A worn-out breaker Breakers wear out over time. Swap the breaker with a known good one to rule out a cheap, failing component.
Other loads on the same circuit Make sure nothing else is running on that circuit. A space heater, lights, or another tool can push the total current over the breaker’s limit.
