5 Reasons Not to Machine Wash Your Extended Mousepad

The rubber base and fabric top are glued together, and machine washing breaks that bond. Delamination is the most common failure.

Heat and agitation accelerate delamination. Hot water and high spin cycles are the worst offenders, even on quality pads from SteelSeries or Razer.

Budget pads use weaker adhesive and fail faster. The risk is higher with cheaper pads, but no pad is immune.

Hand washing is safer and takes ten minutes. Use mild dish soap, scrub gently, rinse well, and air dry flat. Zero risk of ruining a $30–50 pad.

If you must machine wash, use a pillowcase or delicates bag, cold water, no spin, and no dryer. But it is still a gamble.
