5 Facts About How Fennesz Recorded Venice

The album was recorded on location in Venice in July 2003. Field recordings from the city were captured during this session.

Additional recording took place at Amann Studios in Vienna. These sessions happened in January and February 2004.

The Venice recordings provided the raw environmental sounds. These sounds were later processed and layered in the studio.

The Vienna studio work focused on mixing and electronic manipulation. Fennesz shaped the field recordings into the final album there.

The two recording phases were separated by about six months. This gap allowed time for the material to develop between sessions.
