4 Ways to Handle High Cyanuric Acid in Your Pool
Drain and refill partially This is the only reliable fix. Cyanuric acid does not evaporate or break down, so you must physically remove the water and replace it with fresh water.
Use a reverse osmosis filtration truck These trucks filter out CYA without draining the entire pool. It costs more and is not available everywhere, but it works.
Switch to non-stabilized chlorine If your CYA is only moderately high (60–80 ppm), using plain liquid bleach or calcium hypochlorite will stop it from climbing further. It will not lower existing levels.
Do not buy CYA reducer products Bottles claiming to reduce cyanuric acid do not work. They either do nothing or disrupt your pool chemistry in other ways.
