4 Tips for Keeping a Waterproof Mousepad Mold-Free
Wipe spills off immediately Waterproof does not mean self-drying. If you spill something, wipe it off right away to prevent moisture from sitting on the surface for hours.
Clean weekly or monthly with mild soap Wash your mousepad with mild dish soap and water once a week if you eat at your desk, or once a month otherwise. Avoid bleach or alcohol wipes, as they can break down the waterproof coating.
Dry the edges and underside thoroughly Mold often starts at seams, edges, and the rubber base, which trap moisture even if the top feels dry. Let the pad air dry completely upside down for a few hours, or hang a large desk mat over a table edge.
Do not put it back while still wet A damp rubber base against your desk creates the perfect environment for mildew. Your mousepad should not smell like a wet towel.
