Grimes scrapped the original Art Angels sessions and started over in 2014. She began planning the album in 2013 as a follow-up to Visions but discarded most of the material.

Only one track from the original sessions made the final album. The song ‘Realiti’ survived the scrapped recordings and appears on Art Angels.
