Cloth pads are gentler on mouse feet, letting them last for years, but they collect dust and wear unevenly over time. Glass gives you amazing fast-flicking performance at the cost of skate longevity.

You can slow the damage by using thicker feet labeled “glass” or “speed” varieties, and replacing them every few months. Ceramic feet are an option, but they risk scratching the pad itself.
