Washing can reduce a shiny spot, but it’s a temporary fix. The spot comes from oil, sweat, and friction that flatten the fabric or foam fibers, making them smooth and reflective instead of matte.

Use warm water and mild dish soap to lift the oil. Scrub gently with a soft brush or your fingers, rinse, and let the pad air dry completely. This works best on cloth pads.

Hard plastic or rubber pads may not respond to washing. The shine on those surfaces is actual wear, not just oil buildup. If washing doesn’t help, the pad is permanently polished.
