Never wash the filter with water Water turns fine dust into mud, which clogs the filter and can cause mold or motor damage. Most robot vacs use HEPA or foam filters that are not meant to get wet.

Tap the filter against a trash can instead Take the filter outside and tap it firmly against the inside of a trash can. This knocks out about 90% of the dust without damaging it.

Use a soft brush for stubborn dust If tapping isn’t enough, gently brush the pleats in one direction with the cleaning tool that came with the vacuum. Avoid scrubbing or using water.
