4 Things to Check When Your Pool Pump Is Cavitating

Check the skimmer water level If the water is below the middle of the skimmer opening, the pump is pulling air. Top off the pool immediately.

Clean the pump strainer basket A clogged basket restricts flow and worsens suction loss. Remove any debris blocking the basket.

Lower the pump speed if you have a variable-speed pump Dropping to a lower speed reduces pressure differential, giving water time to flow in properly and preventing cavitation.

Inspect for vacuum leaks in the suction line If the water level is fine and the basket is clean, check for a loose lid gasket, cracked pipe, or dried-out pump seal that lets air in.
