4 Reasons Your Pool Is Still Cloudy After Shocking

  1. The filter isn’t working properly Shock kills bacteria and algae but doesn’t remove dead particles. Run your pump 24 hours and backwash or clean the filter.

  2. Water chemistry is off High calcium hardness or phosphates can make water hazy even after shocking. Test and adjust these levels.

  3. Particles are too small for the filter A clarifier or flocculant can clump tiny particles so the filter catches them.

  4. Chlorine levels dropped again If chlorine didn’t hold, you may have ammonia from stabilized chlorine buildup. This requires a partial drain and refill.
