Cheap mousepads use low-quality rubber that doesn’t hold its shape. The thin base expands and contracts unevenly, causing the edges to lift and curl permanently.

Humidity makes the problem worse. The rubber absorbs moisture, swells, then dries and shrinks, pulling the fabric edge upward faster than in dry climates.

Temporary fixes like ironing on low heat with a towel or placing heavy books on the pad overnight rarely work long-term. Once the rubber is damaged, the curl returns.
