3 Ways to Handle Dandelions, Crabgrass, and Clover Without Poison

  1. Pull dandelions by hand or spot-spray with vinegar Get the whole taproot when pulling, or spray household vinegar on a sunny day. Corn gluten meal works as a pre-emergent in spring, but it is not a miracle cure. Skip blanket spraying and just stay on top of the ones that appear.

  2. Prevent crabgrass with a natural pre-emergent applied at the right time Apply corn gluten meal or a molasses-based product when soil temperatures hit 55°F. Miss that window and you will be hand-pulling all summer. There is no effective natural post-emergent that will not also damage your grass.

  3. Let clover be part of your lawn Clover fixes nitrogen, stays green without watering, and supports bees. If you insist on a perfect monoculture, you will fight it forever. Mow high and accept some clover for a healthier, lower-maintenance lawn.
