3 Ways to Get Closest to Niagara Falls
Cave of the Winds You stand on a wooden walkway at the base of Bridal Veil Falls, feet from where the water hits the rocks. You get a poncho and sandals, but you will be soaked. It is the most intense and immersive option.
Maid of the Mist or Hornblower boat tours These put you in the basin at the bottom of the falls, where you get drenched and feel the roar from every direction. You are still about 50 to 100 feet away from the actual falling water.
Journey Behind the Falls You walk through tunnels and look out from behind the curtain. The view is through a misty opening and you are separated by rock, so you do not feel the falls the same way. Skip this unless you have mobility issues or want the novelty.
