3 Ways to Cool Your Pool Without a Chiller
Run the pump at night This is the simplest and cheapest method. Running the pump overnight pulls warm surface water through the filter, exposes it to cooler night air, and cycles it back, using evaporative cooling and heat exchange with the ground.
Add a fountain or waterfall Any water feature that breaks the surface increases evaporation, which cools the water faster. A cheap aerator or PVC fountain attachment works well, though you will lose an inch or two of water per week.
Use shade cloth Set up shade cloth or retractable shade sails before the sun hits the pool. This blocks direct sunlight and reduces heat gain, but it only helps if deployed early enough.
