3 Ways to Check If Your RAM Is Running in Dual-Channel

Use CPU-Z Install the second RAM stick, boot up, and open CPU-Z. Click the “Memory” tab and look for “Channel #”. If it says “Dual”, dual-channel is working.

Check Windows Task Manager Open Task Manager, go to the Performance tab, then Memory. Look for “Slots used” and “Form factor”. It will usually show “2 of 2” and “Dual” if dual-channel is active. This method is not always perfectly reliable.

Match your RAM sticks Most laptops with two physical RAM slots support dual-channel automatically if both sticks have the same capacity, speed, and ideally the same brand. Mixing an 8GB with a 16GB stick runs in “flex mode” — partially dual, partially single — which is not ideal but works.
