The weir is a floating flap inside the skimmer that traps debris and regulates water flow. Without it, leaves and other surface debris float right back into the pool.

It creates a small waterfall effect that pulls surface water and debris into the skimmer basket. When the pump turns off, the flap closes to keep debris trapped inside.

You can adjust the weir’s tension or replace it if cracked. A broken weir means worse skimming performance.
