3 Steps to Shock Your Pool After Rain
Test the water first Heavy rain dilutes chemicals and throws off pH and alkalinity. Dumping shock into unbalanced water wastes it and can cloud the pool worse.
Adjust pH before shocking Rain brings dirt and pollen that eats up chlorine. If pH is above 7.6 or below 7.2, adjust it first to avoid reducing shock effectiveness and irritating skin.
Shock and run the pump overnight Once pH is in range, bring chlorine to shock level per the product label. If water is still cloudy the next day, shock again or add a clarifier.
