3 Steps to Protect Your Pool Pump and Filter Lines From Freezing

Drain the pump Remove the drain plugs from the pump housing and let all water flow out. Any water left inside can freeze, expand, and crack the housing.

Open the filter air relief valve Unscrew the air relief valve on top of the filter to let water drain from the filter tank. Leave it open so no water gets trapped.

Remove and store drain plugs Take out all drain plugs from the pump, filter, and heater. Store them in a safe place so you don’t lose them over winter.
