3 Steps to Fix a Pool Liner Pulling Away From the Wall

  1. Find and fix the leak first The liner is pulling away because water is escaping somewhere. Use a dye test or look for air bubbles to find the leak at a seam, return fitting, or skimmer. Patch small holes with a vinyl patch kit and glue, or use a submersible patch or pool repair tape for bigger tears.

  2. Refill the pool slowly Once the leak is patched, refill the pool gradually. The water pressure will push the liner back against the wall on its own.

  3. Use a shop vac for stubborn liners If the liner doesn’t settle, attach a shop vac to the skimmer to create suction and pull the liner tight while you fill. Avoid weights or clips—they are temporary fixes.
