Scrape out the packed crud Use a dedicated bar groove cleaning tool or a flat-head screwdriver to remove sawdust, oil residue, and grit from the groove.

Blow out fine dust with compressed air Hit the groove and oil port with compressed air to clear remaining debris. If you don’t have compressed air, use a stiff wire like a paperclip for the oil port.

Avoid water or solvents Don’t use water or solvents—they wash out bar oil and can cause rust. Just scrape and blow. Do this every time you refill the tank.
