3 Signs Your Pool Has Metals, Not Algae

Green water after adding chlorine If your pool turns green when you add chlorine, it is likely iron or copper oxidizing, not algae. Chlorine reacts with dissolved metals, turning them into colored particles.

Unusual green or rusty color A blue-green tint means copper is present. A rusty tea color means iron is present. Neither responds to more chlorine.
