3 Reasons Magnetic Charging Cables Won't Interfere With Mouse Tracking

Optical and laser mice track by reflecting light off the surface, not by sensing magnetic fields or electrical conductivity. A magnetic charging cable’s weak, localized field is far too weak to affect the sensor.

Conductive fibers in mousepads designed for RGB lighting don’t matter. The sensor reads surface texture, not electrical resistance, and the charging cable only carries power—it can’t short the sensor circuit.

The only exception is an old ball mouse with magnetic rollers, but those are obsolete. For any modern mouse, magnetic charging cables are safe to use.
